Mitra Amin

Mitra graduated with a Master of Applied Psychology (Community Psychology) and is a member of AAPi.

Mitra has worked for several years in a multidisciplinary environment working with people with short and long-term health impairments resulting from chronic pain conditions. She uses a range of approaches including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for a variety of presentations including but not limited to depression, anxiety, adjustment / life transitions and trauma. She specifically uses cognitive processing therapy (CPT) to address trauma related conditions.

Mitra develops rapport through active and empathetic listening and understanding the unique circumstances and life stages of her clients in order to tailor therapy to best suit individual needs and expectations. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to bring about positive change, enhanced resilience and greater understanding in a person’s life.

In addition to her training and experience in the psychological field, Mitra has worked for several years in the community sector, particularly with refugees, asylum seekers and people from diverse backgrounds to address issues of settlement, housing, education, employment, family issues and domestic violence. She speaks conversational Farsi.

At Synchronised Psychology and Healing, Mitra works with adult clients aged 18 years above. Sessions are available face to face and through telehealth. Mitra accepts Medicare, Workcover and TAC clients.
