Workshops
Year 11 & 12 Wellbeing Workshop
For many students, the senior years at secondary school can present a great challenge as decisions are made about the future and pressure mounts to succeed. In our work as psychologists, we are aware of the stress and the mental health challenges that can arise as students navigate assessments and exams. This workshop aims to provide students with knowledge and skills to achieve optimal mental health, to explore their own values and identity, and to redefine what success means for them. Topics to be covered include:
What to look out for - psychoeducation around common mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety and depression and drug and alcohol problems.
The physiology of stress and anxiety - Practical coping strategies including breathing techniques, relaxation, active mindfulness, and restructuring your thoughts.
Self care - creating balance, the importance of nutrition, sleep and exercise, positive affirmations and mantras.
An exploration of Identity and values - Who are you? Who do you want to be? What influences your decisions?
Redefining success - What is success for you? Creating a broader definition.
